About Milton

Milton is a longtime trial lawyer and law professor whose practice focuses on civil litigation, including employment discrimination and wrongful termination law, general municipal law, complex litigation, construction, tort and land title cases, landlord-tenant cases, and dispute resolution and litigation for cities, counties and special purpose districts. Milton was litigation counsel for the City of Spokane from 1993-2007, and in that capacity handled many administrative and litigation matters, including employment, personal injury, malpractice and civil rights litigation.

Milton graduated in 1985 summa cum laude from Gonzaga, and began his teaching career there in 1987. He has taught hundreds of law students, not only at Gonzaga, but also at the University of Denver College of Law and the University of Idaho. Gonzaga students selected Professor Milton Rowland as the “Adjunct Professor of the Year” for so many years in a row that the award was finally named after him. He has written chapters for two books on torts and trial practice and presented CLE courses for the Yakima County Bar Association, the Washington Association of Prosecuting Attorneys, and many other bar groups.
